Tamenglong hosts Marathon race

Tamenglong, September 21 2024:
In a spirited celebration of cleanliness, people of Tamenglong participated in a Marathon race organised as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on Saturday.
DC Tamenglong, Dr L Angshim Dangshawa flagged off the Marathon race from Haipou Jadonang park and the race culminated at the starting point after passing through 5 Manipur Rifles gate.
SP Tamenglong, Lanmiyo Luikham, CEO Tamenglong cum Nodal Officer of Swachhata Hi Seva Ka-chamthai, CMO Tamenglong Dr Majachunglu Gangmei, additional SP Tamenglong Josiah T Pamei and other district officials were also present to support the race and the cleanliness campaign.
Runners from various backgrounds like students, CSO leaders, civilians numbering more than 200 took part in the marathon showcasing their dedication not only to fitness but also to the cause of promoting a cleaner environment.
The competitive spirit was palpable with Kenedy Kamei of Sangrungpang village clinching the first place, Buanthanlung Gon-mei of Namkaolong village got the second position while Ganglan Gangmei of Thiulon village secured the third spot in the men's category.
Ganchuiliu Gangmei, Kajatliu Gangmei, Lungsingthuanliu Panmei and Martha Panmei secured first, second, third and fourth position respectively in the women category.
All the winners were honoured with certificates.
In addition to the marathon, the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign in the district will host a 'Waste to Art' event on September 23 encouraging creativity and innovation in recycling waste materials.
This initiative aims to inspire community members to think differently' about waste and its potential for artistic expression.
