Field day on rice variety RC Maniphou-16 conducted

Chandel, November 16 2024: ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel conducted a field day on rice variety RC Maniphou-16 yesterday at Laiching Maipou village.

The field day was held under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Seed (Crops), as per a press release issued by KVK Chandel.

The field day was organised to showcase the performance of rice variety RC Maniphou-16.The AICRP on Seed (Crops) is a significant initiative in India aiming to improve seed production and quality across various crops.

The demonstration of rice variety RC Maniphou-16 is conducted under participatory seed production mode.

During the programme, Ts Leenda Monsang, SMS (Plant Breeding) highlighted the importance of quality seed production and its availability to the farmers in time and encouraged other participating farmers to adapt quality seed production for sustainability.

Meanwhile, DK Yaima Maring, Chairman of Laiching Khullen village applauded the farmers for their hard work and encouraged them to continue the technology for food security.

He also expressed elation upon seeing the success of RC Maniphou-16 in the paddy fields.

Later, a farmer-scientist interaction programme was held with Krishi Vigyan Kendra experts, Ts Leenda Monsang, SMS (Plant breeding) and Ps Lavid Anal, SMS (Horticulture).

The programme was attended by 28 farmers and staff of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Chandel.
