Imphal, July 12 2025:
Manipur Architects' Forum and State Town Planning Department organised a discussion programme on 'The Model Manipur Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2024' at Town Planning Department meeting hall on Saturday.
A release issued by Manipur Architects' Forum assistant secretary Ar Lenin Brahmacharimayum informed that 27 architects of the forum attended the discussion programme.
Building Bye-Laws are regulations established by the Municipality to guide the construction of houses.
These bye-laws ensure that newly constructed buildings are safe and help protect against hazards such as earthquakes and fires, while also regulating building height, designate spaces, and help prevent improper or unsafe constructions, it said.
The meeting resolved to determine the minimum plot-size and ensure the on-ground implementation of building bye-laws, while recognising the need for a single-window clearance system for obtaining permissions from the Airport Authority, Fire Service, Municipality, and Town Planning Department.
The meeting also proposed allowing third-party monitoring and organising workshops to raise public awareness about the Energy Conservation & Sustainability Building Code (ECSBC) and the role of registered architects and raised concerns over the absence of architect posts in state s urban local bodies, the release added.
