Imphal, September 21 2024:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Manipur activity coordinator Bishwanath Thingnam has urged the government to put an end to the violence at the earliest instead of waiting for the people to end the violence prevailing in the state.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday, Bishwanath said that there has been a limit to the lies spewed by the centre and central armed forces with regard to violence in the state which has been going on for over 16 months.
The idea of continuing to suppress the people of Manipur should be abandoned, he stated, adding that the people are becoming increasingly aware of the origin and cause of the violence.
Regarding security advisor Kuldeep Singh's statements to the media on Friday, Bishwanath said that the statements are confirming the suspicions of people.
He questioned why security measures like the ones taken up in the valley are not taken up in the hill areas as well, while further raising questions on the central government's claims that peace has been restored in the state.
In addition, the hidden intention to delay the border fencing in Kuki-inhabited areas needs to be questioned, he remarked, while asking how long the people will be kept in a restless state.
He continued that the CM of Mizoram had openly declared his intent to unite all Kuki-Zo inhabited areas and form a Chin-Kuki nation.
As such, it is a big question why the central government has not taken up any action on the matter.
Thus, he urged the government to put an end to the violence before a public movement, while adding that APP will stand against all those threatening the people of Manipur.
