NIT hosts one-day internship and interactive session on conservation of environment

The Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute ofT echnology (NIT) Manipur, organised a one-day internship and interactive session on the theme "Need for the Conservation of our Environment" as part of the Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) Initiative 2025 under the CRG-SERB Projectyesterday.
The programme was attended by students of Class VI and VII from Nirmalabas High School, Imphal.
Prof DVLN Somayajulu, Director, NIT Manipur attended the programme and addressed the students emphasising the significance of engineering education and the pivotal role of innovation in National progress.
Furthermore, Prof (Dr Ing) Bakimchandra Oinam, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Principal Investigator of the CRG-SERB Project, provided an overview of the department's ongoing research activities and highlighted the importance of Civil Engineering as a career, underlining its contribution to the modernization and sustainable development of society.
As part of the programme, the students were given the opportunity to visit various laboratories of the Civil Engineering Department, where they gained hands-on exposure to advanced laboratory equipment under the supervision of experienced lab technicians.
An environmental quiz competition was also conducted, and certificates along with mementos were awarded to the winners as a mark of encouragement.
The event concluded with a valedictory function, during which all participating students were presented with certificates of participation and tree saplings, symbolizing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living practices.
