Aid extended to family of slain village volunteer

Imphal, February 06 2024: WAL United Youths Club and Women's Social Welfare Association, Wangkhei Angom Leikai extended financial assistance to the bereaved family of village volunteer Nongthombam Michaeldev of Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal, who was killed in an attack by Kuki militants in Koutruk-Kadangband area a few days back.

The members of the two associations visited the bereaved family on Monday and handed over the financial assistance.

Interacting with the media during their visit, WAL United Club president RK Gokul said that Michaeldev and Maisnam Khaba were killed while defending the foothill villages from the aggression of Kuki militants, who have been plotting bifurcation of the state.

They were true patriots and sacrificed their lives selflessly to uphold the integrity of Manipur, and every member of the Meetei community honour their sacrifices, he said The president also shared the grief and pain of the bereaved families while adding that the financial assistance is a humble gesture of gratitude to the martyr.
