Meira volunteers try to storm Assembly

Demanding suitable action against the 10 Kuki MLAs who are insisting on separate administration, and their removal from membership of the BJP, volunteers of Imagi Meira on Tuesday tried to throng the Manipur Legislative Assembly, BJP office and private residence of the BJP state president.
Tuesday's agitation was as per the January 2 meeting held at YWO Club in Singjamei Thgokchom Leikai wherein a number of resolutions were adopted and demanded the government to honour the resolutions within two days failing which Imagi Meira along with the public will launch intense agitations.
BJP state president Adhikarimayum Sharda assured Imagi Meira that she would continue urging the central leaders to initiate action against the 10 Kuki MLAs during her visit to Delhi.
The representatives of Imagi Meira were also been invited to a meeting with the Speaker at 11 am on Wednesday.
During the meeting on January 2, it was unanimously resolved that the state government should initiate stern actions against the 10 Kuki MLAs who are trying to destroy the territorial integrity of Manipur.
In addition, the meeting also took a number of resolutions including holding the meeting of Assembly's Privilege and Ethics Committee to take up actions against the 10 Kuki MLAs, convening emergency sitting of the assembly to take a decision over the 9-month long crisis in the state in the interest of the public and send it to the central government The volunteers of Imagi Meira tried to barge into the Manipur State Assembly to meet the Speaker on Tuesday.
However, the agitators were stopped by the central security forces and personnel of Imphal West district police.
Later, Imagi Meira convenor Th Sujata along with two other members were allowed to meet the private secretary to the Speaker as the latter was not in his office.
A written letter from the secretary assured a meeting with the Speaker along with two representatives of Imagi Meira on Wednesday at 11 am.
The agitators also arrived at the BJP's Nityaipat Chuthek office to meet the BJP president.
However, as the BJP president was not at the office, the agitators headed to her Bamon Leikai residence.
The agitators were blocked on the way to the residence and later allowed Sujata and 5 other representatives of Imagi Meira to meet the BJP president Adhikarimayum Sharda.
During the meeting, the BJP president informed Imagi Meira representatives that she had been urging the central leaders to take up action against the 10 Kuki MLAs and will continue to do so.
She will meet the central leaders during her visit to Delhi on February 14 and further urge for the same, Sujata informed reporters on her way out after the meeting.
