'Erecting Cross on other's sacred site is anti-Christ' :: Don't defile Bible : IMYCA

Imphal, February 06 2024:
Pointing out that the Thangjing Hill is the abode of Lord Thangjing and it is closely associated with the Meitei civilization, the International Meetei Christian Youth Assembly (IMYCA) has asserted that the Cross installed atop Thangjing Hill must be removed.
The Meetei Churches Advocacy for Peace and Development (MCAPD) Manipur has also pointed out that the Bible does not teach Christians to install Cross on any other religious community's sacred site.
The organic relationship shared between Thangjing Hill and Meitei civilization is document in ancient texts like "Thangjing Chinggoirol", "Chingni Chuplen", "Thangjing Thellol" etc, IMCYA said in a press note.
It is a matter of grave concern that some Chin-Kuki-Zou narco-terrorists installed a Cross at the sacred abode of Lord Thangjing atop Thangjing Hill on January 25 .
Installation of Cross at the particular site cannot be justified under any circumstances and this act of sacrilege has demeaned the entire Christian community, it said.
The Cross is a symbol of God's love but the particular Cross installed atop Thangjing Hill is not the God's symbol of love.
The particular Cross can be assumed to be an instrument of encroachment, poppy plantation and pursuing the demand of separate administration.
Installation of Cross at the sacred abode of Lord Thangjing has become a matter of utter shame to all innocent Meetei Christians as well as Christians of other communities.
The holy Cross should not be abused and the one installed on Mount Thangjing must be removed immediately, IMCYA asserted.
If the particular Cross is not removed, IMCYA will take up necessary action and the highly incendiary, preposterous and blasphemous activities of the Chin-Kuki-Zou narco-terrorists would be exposed before the whole world, it said.
It went on to ask, "What are you if you can shout hallelujah after killing people?" .
Meanwhile, speaking to media persons at Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel today, MCAPD spokesman Phijam Brojen categorically stated that installation of Cross by militant Kuki Christians on Mount Thangjing, deeply revered and held sacred by Meiteis, is an act of terrorism which portrays all the Christians across the world in wrong light.
Those Kukis who installed the Cross on Mount Thangjing should know that the Bible does not teach any Christian to install Cross on somebody's sacred site.
They must remove the particular cross immediately, Brojen said.
He also appealed to all the CSOs not to remain silent on the highly provocative act of installing Cross on Mount Thangjing.
At the same time, rational Kukis and elders must see that particular Cross is removed immediately.
Saying that Manipur is a very beautiful God-gifted place, he appealed to all the communities to promote secularism and mutual respect among all religions and faiths.
The dream to disintegrate Manipur is rather ridiculous, he remarked.
There are around 255 Meetei Churches in Manipur but many of them have been vandalised and damaged while many others were burnt following the Kuki aggression which started on May 3, 2023.As such, Kukis are responsible for the arson and vandalism at Meetei Churches, he said.
It was only after Kukis burnt down several Meitei houses and Temples that the Meiteis started targeting Meitei Churches, the MCAPD spokesman said.
It is a well known fact that the Manipur crisis originated from the solidarity rally taken out by Kukis at Churachandpur on May 3, 2023 and the subsequent torching of several Meitei houses, Temples and killing of Meitei people at Churachandpur and other places of Manipur, he asserted.
It would do well for the Kuki-Chin people to accept that it was the Kukis who started the widespread conflict, he added.
All religions and faiths must be respected in order to bring peace and normalcy in Manipur, Brojen said.
