CNPO issues flood alert, advises precautionary measures

Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) has issued a flood alert stating that due to unpredictable and continuous heavy rainfall, water levels are rising rapidly in Chakpi, Lokchao, Maha, Kangshang-Maipou, Tumit Lok rivers and other water bodies, posing a significant threat to public safety.
In a statement, CNPO Information Cell informed that potential flooding may occur in various areas, including mudslides and landslides, and advised residents to take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
CNPO appealed to the public to monitor weather forecasts and advisories from local authorities, including All India Radio, news channels, and India Meteorological Department (IMD as safety measures; avoid farming, fishing, and other outdoor activities; stay away from flood-prone zones; be prepared for evacuation by preparing emergency kit and follow evacuation orders; do not allow children to venture out to rivers; do not cross rivers on foot; do not collect wood floating on river and keep emergency contact numbers handy.
It also advised that people should handle electrical equipment with care, especially if wet or standing in water; protect valuables by placing them in higher areas; secure their home and property and keep drains clear and avoid littering.
CNPO also listed emergency contact numbers of Sh Kalenchung (8132079457), Meran (8415908346), Sk Joseph (7424089980), Sr Angtun (8119898829), Sk Sunny (81310 50808), K Lungkim (8787570357) and Ps Kingson (8414998415), for any issues regarding the flood.
