Imphal, April 17: The proscribed PREPAK has pulled up a 58 year old man on charges of defrauding the people with false promises of providing them Govt jobs and for taking advantage of the vulnerability of women and punished him with a bullet at the right leg at 7.30 pm somewhere at Imphal East today.

Informing this, a spokesman of the Home Dept of the outfit said that if the accused does not return the money he took from the gullible people on promises of providing them with Govt jobs by May 7, he would be awarded the capital punishment.

Earlier addressing reporters, the spokesman said that the accused, Chanambam Biren alias Tomba Singh (58) of Mayang Imphal has four wives and worked as a Local Fund Inspector in the Secretariat in 1981 and added that he was dismissed from service on Feb 17, 1990 .

Later he left home and started cheating people off their money and staretd taking advantage of women by posing as a Maiba said the spokesman.

The outfit also gave a detailed list of the four wives of Biren and added that he started a business dealing with Moreh goods and used to send them to Guwahati using his wives, all who had a past.

The outfit gave all the detailed accounts of the manner in which Biren used his 'wives' to carry out his immoral acts and also divulged the names of the hotels where the immoral acts were carried out.

The outfit also gave details of how Biren perpetrated his perverted acts on some young girls.

Biren was also accused of duping a large number of people on the false promise that he would get them Govt jobs, said the spokesman and disclosed how he teamed up with the sister of a veteran politician to dupe the people.

For all his misdeeds he should pay, added the spokesman.
