Imphal, July 15 2009:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) is set to launch a mass agitation, if the Government fails to withdraw its notice served to the student body, to shift its headquarters from the campus of DM College.
This was announced by its president Jamesbond Mangang in a press conference conducted at AMSU headquarters today.
Maintaining that there are other institutions like MBC Higher Secondary School, Adimjati schools, THAU ground, PCTC oil station, Ima Khunthoknganbi temple, official quarters of Speaker and Deputy Speaker and other private houses etc inside the campus of DM College, Jamesbond asked the intention of the Government of serving notice only on AMSU.
Asserting that the decision of the State Governmnent is not right in the light of the mentioned fact, Jamesbond urged the Government to revoke its decision which may turn out to be an invitation for an intense agitation.
Taking part in the press conference, AMSU publicity secretary, L Ranendra alleged that the State Government has not arranged any place where the State students can gather or stay.
AMSU however, he added, is currently providing shelter to students coming from far flung places.
He also cautioned that the students body has prepared itself to launch an agitation if the the State Government fails to take back its notice served to the students body.
