SUK lines up state level competitions

Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK) would be organising its 10th State Level Spelling Competition and 6th Kangleipak Pumbagi Ariba Lon (Kangleilon)gi Wahanthok Changdamnaba (old words meaning competition) from August 25 to September 8 through multiple rounds.
Informing this during a press meet held at its Wangkhei office here on Sunday, SUK general secretary Th Tarun said that the current crisis the state has been facing since May 3 last year has severely affected the student community.
Despite the issues, SUK decided to continue its annual competitions with the objective of ensuring continuity of educational activities, he said.
The spelling competition under the theme 'Moving forward in the global competition by bringing out innate talents and knowledge of students' will be held in three rounds with the first (preliminary) on August 25, second on September 1 and the final round on September 8 .
There will be two categories - Category A for students of class 5 to 7, and Category B for students of Class 8 to 10.The 'old words meaning' competition will be held under the theme 'promoting the beauty of old Kanglei language in modern time' in two rounds.
First round will be held on September 1 and the final round on September 8 .
Students from high school to post-graduate level can participate in the competition.
Top three winners of both competitions will be rewarded Rs 20,000 cash, Rs 15,000 cash and Rs 10,000 cash respectively along with certificates and mementoes.
There will also be consolation prizes for all the finalists, Tarun said while urging for public support in organising the competitions.
He also informed that fees will be exempted for students displaced by the current crisis.
