Farmers' training proramme organised

Thoubal, May 28 2024:
Under the aegis of National Livestock Mission (NLM), District Veterinary
Office, Thoubal/Kakching
organised a one-day farmers' training programme on
'Poultry Management, Sci-
entific Rearing Pig and Livestock Insurance' at Wangjing
Hodamba Maning community hall in Thoubal district on
Tuesday.
Around 85 farmers
participated in the training
programme.
Wangjing GP caretaker chairperson Tekcham Bimol,
Thoubal district veterinary
joint director Dr Puyam Gojendro, and Pioneer Club, Wangjing Hodamba general secretary Norem Iboyaima attended
the training programme as
chief guest, president and
guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion,
Dr Gojendro highlighted the
benefits of livestock insurance
and encouraged farmers to
get their poultry and livestock
insured to recover loss.
The
training programme has been
organised with the objective to
impart knowledge on scientific
way of poultry and piggery
farming as well as benefits of
livestock insurance, he added.
During the training proramme, poultry specialist
(retired) Dr Kh Somendro
spoke on poultry farming and
District Veterinary Hospital,
Thoubal veterinary officer
Dr Diana Kshetrimayum on
selecting good breeds of pig,
place for making sty as resource persons.
Veterinary
Hospital, Serou veterinary
officer Dr Y Geeta also spoke
on pig feeds and ways to prevent diseases often affecting
pigs while Veterinary Hospital,
Heirok VO Dr Y Sovarani elaborated on livestock insurance as resource persons.
