Field day on RC-Maniphou-16 held

Kakching, November 15 2024: A field day on RC-Maniphou-16 was organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, in collaboration with ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Chandel at Laiching Maipou village on Friday.

The event showcased the efficiency of the RC-Maniphou-16 variety, which is part of the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Seed (Crops) .

The project is a national initiative aimed at enhancing seed production and quality across various crops.

During the programme, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Breeding) Ts Leenda Monsang emphasised the role of producing high-quality seeds and ensuring their timely availability to farmers.

She encouraged the participating farmers to adopt quality seed production practices to support sustainable agriculture.

Laiching Khullen village chairman DK Yaima Maring urged the farmers to adopt advanced agricultural technologies for food security and expressed satisfaction on seasonal yield of RC-Maniphou-16 variety.

The event also featured a farmer-scientist interaction session with KVK experts Ts Leenda Monsang and SMS (horticulture) Ps Lavid Anal.

A total of 28 farmers and KVK, Chandel staff members attended the programme.
