Lup opposes online shopping centre at Nambol Keithel

Bishnupur, July 29 2025: Nambol Keithel Apunba Lukmai Shintha Lup and Nambol Bazar shopkeepers have demanded immediate cessation to reported plan for opening of online shopping centre by some businessmen, stating that such a store which will have adverse effect on small businesses operating in Nambol and surrounding areas.

Addressing the media in press meet called by the Lup and shopkeepers at Nambol Keithel on Tuesday, one Thounaojam Lakshaheb emphasised that the planned shopping centre should be established 4-5 km away from Nambol Bazar.

Maintaining that small time vendors and shopkeepers of Nambol Bazar shall never accept any initiative that threatens their businesses, he suggested that proprietors of the proposed online shopping centre consult with Nambol Keithel Apunba Lukmai Shintha Lup and shopkeepers before going ahead with their plan.

Lakshaheb also cautioned that if the shopping centre is operationalized without consulting them then the owners concerned shall be responsible for any untoward incidents.

He also appealed to property owners not to lease their property to people scheming for set up the shopping centre and to Nambol Municipal Council not to issue permit for it, taking into account sentiment and interest of the vendors and shopkeepers of Nambol Keithel.
