TSA honours SAFFU-16 India captain, local journo

On the occasion of its 29th Foundation Day, the Thadou Students' Association-Sadar Hills honoured captain of the Blue Colt team that recently won the SAFF U-16 Championship trophy in Thimphu, Bhutan, as well as a local senior journalist, while launching a campaign on education called "Themjil khohsah ute," which translates as "Let's value education" .
The TSA Foundation Day was celebrated at JN Public School Kangpokpi along with distribution of meritorious awards, launch of campaign on children's education, and career counselling for displaced students.
Recognising the duties of the media and the invaluable contributions of journalists in society, the TSA honoured Kaybie Chongloi, a local senior journalist, for his commendable contribution in the field of journalism for nearly 20 years.
TSA also honoured Ngamhouhao Mate for bringing laurels to the nation in general and the community in particular during the SAFF U-16 tournament.
Since the India U16 captain had already gone for Shillong to prepare for the AFC U-17 Championship, the award was accepted on his behalf by his uncle.
On the occasion, the students' body also started a campaign called "Themjil Khohsah Ute" to instil and promote the importance of education among the public and to commit more resources to children's education.
Study materials were also distributed to students under the campaign while TSA conducted career counselling for displaced students as part of the celebration, with Dr Helun Touthang and Kaybie Chongloi serving as resource persons.
TSA Sadar Hills president Paominlun Lhouvum paid tribute to all the deceased founding members of the Association and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all well-wishers, intellectuals and other student bodies and civil society organisations for their support and cooperation to the TSA Sadar Hills.
