Farmers trained, seeds distributed

Imphal, July 29 2025:
Agriculture Department, in association with IPSA Sekmai Branch, organised farmers' training-cum-seed distribution programme at Awang Sekmai Koujengleima community hall on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891 Martyrs & Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Manipur) chairman Joychandra Konthoujam, Agriculture Department director Peter Salam, Imphal West district agriculture officer S Kennedy Singh, MOVCD NER nodal officer Kh Nimaichand Singh, Department of Agriculture NFSNM nodal officer W Subash Singh and IPSA Sekmai president Kh Ibobi.
Speaking at the programme, Joychandra called for overcoming the dependency syndrome besieging the present generation as Manipuri forefathers were never dependent.
Highlighting that almost all items, from food to dai ly essentials, are imported ones, he stressed the need to examine why the state is facing such a situation and strive to collectively address the same.
Joychandra also commenced the agriculture department for launching new schemes under which seeds, urea and machinery are made accessible to the farmers at free of cost or at subsidised rates.
