Imphal, July 28 2024:
Shri Shri Balmukunda Dev Government Music College, Palace Compound principal S Ramkumar has refuted the allegations levelled by some students of the college that he is not recruiting vacant posts of teachers of the college.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Ramkumar clarified that process for filling up the said vacant posts cannot be initiated by him but prerogative of the department concerned.
The principal also disclosed that he had informed department concerned about the vacant posts following which an advertisement was published in October 2023 for recruitment of three teachers on contract basis but without any follow-up measures till date.
Dismissing as unfounded allegations that the college collected exam fees twice a year, Ramkumar also said that the college has not imposed any additional fees on students except for Rs 280 as exam fee per student for one year.
As the college is under Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow, it only charges fee mandated by the Vidyapith plus a nominal processing fee, he maintained while explaining that out of 10 clerks employed by the college for various office works in past, there is only one clerk at present consequently hindering smooth operation of the college library.
Even though the post of clerk is vacant, he had directed the faculty members to provide the books to the students as the library has adequate stock of relevant literatures, he mentioned, further informing that a meeting to discuss issues affecting the college was held on July 26 with the participation of faculty and students, except those involved in accusing him, maintained the principal.
