State joins 'Menstrual Hygiene Day' observance

Manipur joined rest
of the world in observing
'Menstrual Hygiene Day'
on Tuesday with the State
Health Society, National
Health Mission and Directorate of Health Services jointly
organising an observance
function at Biramangol College relief camp, Sawombung
in Imphal East district.
The observance function was attended by State
Health Mission director
Dr Somorjit Ningombam,
Imphal East CMO Dr L Indira Devi, Rashtriya Kishor
Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK)
state nodal officer Dr Jubilee
Wahengbam, RKSK district
nodal officer Dr Bedana and
Biramangol College relief
camp convener Birenkumar
as presidium members.
During the observance, Dr
Jubilee advised young girls
to use sanitary pads properly and take precaution in
consuming food during their
menstrual period.
She also
demonstrated proper use of
sanitary pad and distributed
the same to girls attending
the event.
A health camp for women and young girls was also
conducted to mark the observance wherein 92 women and girls were provided
medicines free of cost.
Similar observance functions were also organised
by RKSK state team at AAM
Takyel Khongbal, Health and
Wellness Centre, Mayang
Langjing and at adolescent
hub of CHC Sekmai, Imphal West.
