World Sight Day observed in Thoubal

Thoubal, December 26 2024:
As done across the globe, the observance of World Sight Day-2024 was organised by National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB), Thoubal in collaboration with National Health Mission at Thoubal District Hospital conference hall on Tuesday.
Held under the theme "Children, Love Your Eyes", the function was attended by Thoubal DC Ahanthem Subash, CMO Dr Y Nokul Singh and District Hospital medical superintendent Dr W Ruhinikumar as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Delivering the keynote address, NPCB district nodal officer Dr Birbala Okram, recounted free eye camps organised throughout Thoubal and stressed the importance of maintaining healthy eyesight.
DC Subash urged parents to avoid the common practice of giving mobile phones to children to calm them down, stating that it could harm their vision.
He also encouraged regular eye check-ups from a young age and assured that the district administration would provide full support to initiatives aimed
at promoting eye health.
