Imphal, July 21 2023:
Ex-MLA Ak Mirabai has urged Governor Anusuiya Uikey to give directive to authority concerned to trace two teenagers who have gone missing amidst the ongoing violence for a long time.
Ak Mirabai was part of a delegation of All India Mahila Congress Committee led by president Netta Antoinette D'Souza which called on the Governor on Friday.
During the meeting, Ak Mirabai apprised the Governor that two teenagers including a boy from of Takyel Kolom Leikai and a girl from Tera Tongbram Leikai went missing after both went out from their respective residences on June 6.Fearing that the two missing teenagers might had fallen victims to the ongoing clash, she urged the Governor to give strict instruction to relevant authority to trace the missing teenagers, Speaking to media persons after meeting the Governor, Mirabai strongly condemned heinous crime committed against women in the ongoing violence including the May 4 incident, a video of which went viral few days back.
However, women of both the warring communities are affected by the violence and this was made clear to the Governor, she maintained.
According to Mirabai, the violence started on May 3 from Churachandpur and its neighbouring areas and stories of innumerable suffering and hardship faced by Meetei women on May 3 and 4 will be endless and horrifying.
Apart from this, a Meetei mother and her new born child were burned alive inside their house at Serou on May 28.In the latest case, two teenagers from my constituency (Patsoi) could not be traced after both went missing since June 6.Their last call was tracked to a Kuki village and hence there is strong possibility of both the teenagers kidnapped and killed by Kuki people, Mirabai said adding that Governor was apprised about the matter and urged to direct relevant authority to trace the missing teenagers.
