Seminar on Manipur violence held

A state level seminar on the topic "Understanding Unfolding Conflict and Violence in Manipur" was jointly organised by YK College, Wangjing's Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Seminar Committee at the mini conference hall of the College, on Wednesday.
The inaugural function was attended by former DM College of Science retired principal Dr Elangbam Jadu Singh, YK College principal Dr Soibam Giri Singh and Department of Economics retired professor Dr Waikhom Kumar Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Elangbam Jadu opined that numerous issues besieging Manipur periodically are primarily due to lack of knowledge about the state's topography, religion and history, apart from disunity among the people.
He stated that only when there is unity among the people and better acquaintance about history of Manipur everlasting peace would be a reality.
During the technical session, social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram, IRE Groups of Institution principal Dr Rajivkumar, MB College Political Science professor Dr N Somorendro Singh and YK College English Department head associate professor P Somorendro Singh spoke respectively on the topics "Peaceful Co-existence in Manipur", "Unveiling the layers of Conflict and Violence in Manipur: A journey through History, Ethnicity and Politics", "Separatist Identity Politics, Illegal Activities and Violence in Manipur" and "Concluding remarks: The Way forward" .
