STS & NSF Monument Park inaugurated; thanksgiving prayer held

Along with performing the customary and thanks -giving prayer programme, Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (STS)/ Monsang Naga Students' Union and Naga Students' Federation (NSF) 's Monolith Site cum Monument Park was inaugurated with blessing prayer by HCCC catechist Ng Johnson at Roshangkung, Monsang Pantha village in Chandel district on Friday.
The programme organised by STS was attended by STS first president Ng Gilbert, Monsang Pantha village chief Ng Vincent Konishing, Sirti Upa Ruh (SUR) president Ng Benithan, STS president Gedion Kiirii and Sirti Sanuw Ruh (SSR) general secretary K Sharmila as special guests and speakers.
ADC, Chandel ex-CEO Ts Kothar, ex-member Sh Manglem, Sirti Eruwng Ruh (SER) chairman Ts Ngamtin, All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) former president Wanglar Thiirtung Peter, Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) president Rd Elly also attended the programme along with Monsang church leaders, village chiefs, senior elders, women wing, social workers, club leaders and student unions representatives from neighbouring Naga tribes like Anal, Moyon, Lamkang and Maring.
The event was moderated by STS tribunal general Ng Koningjoy and it started with an opening prayer by Japhou Baptist Church (JBC) pastor reverend K Kumar.
Speaking at the occasion, STS president Gedion Kiirii expressed his profound gratitude to all the Monsang villages, special donors and Monsang Pantha Village Authority in particular for the generous donation of the land.
The erection of a monolith to commemorate the 2nd NSF Federal Assembly held on March 15 and inauguration of the monument park would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of general public and special donors, he reiterated.
Chipping in, Monsang Pantha village chief Ng Vincent Konishing emphasised that the feeling of Naga spirit is the main reason behind the generous act of donation of the land to be named 'STS & NSF Monument Park' by Monsang Pantha Village Authority.
On the other hand, Ng Gilbert shared some of his old memories, struggles and challenges as far as his contribution whether at the STS, NSUC and ANSAM level were concerned during his heyday as active student leader.
Ng Benithan praised the present STS leaders for organising the 2nd NSF Federal Assembly 2024 for the first time for the Naga student community in Chandel and called the blessing prayer of the STS & NSF Monument Park' as a historic achievement.
K Sharmila also congratulated the present STS team for inking an important document in the annals of STS history.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by STS general secretary W Philip and Monsang customary feasting locally known as 'Sha Thangshii' and a prayer led by Liwa Sarei village chief Ts Ngamtin.
