Imphal, October 19 2023:
Expressing concern over non-joining of empty tanker trucks with the security convoy leaving Imphal along national highways following the strike called by All Manipur Petroleum Products Drivers' Association, which was resolved after an understanding was brought about on October 16, IOCL said that the situation has created a looming threat of fast-depleting diesel and petrol stocks at the Imphal Depot in Malom.
A letter addressed to Transporters and Dealers cum Transporters of Imphal Depot written by IOCL's senior depot manager, Imphal on Thursday, said that the agreement to resolve the issue was finalised in a memorandum signed on October 16 between Transporters' Association, Drivers' Association, ADGP (Law & Order) of Manipur Police, and the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and also the understanding brought during several meetings held with the chief secretary.
However, despite the supposed resolution, many empty tanker trucks remain grounded, prompting an urgent plea from IOCL.
In the letter, the senior depot manager appealed for immediate mobilisation of all empty tanker trucks to join the security convoy movement scheduled for Monday.
