Man found dead, JAC demands arrest of culprits

Thoubal, June 19 2024:
A man identified as Thokchom Arun (28), s/o Th Manaobi was found dead in a suspicious manner at Sangaiyumpham Part-1 Sabal Leikai in Thoubal district on Wednesday morning.
According to his family, Arun had been away from home since May 3 serving as village volunteer and returned only on Tuesday to help the family in farming activities.
To his wife Pushpa Leima, Arun left home early on Tuesday morning.
As he did not return till late evening, they contacted him over the phone to which he informed that he was caught up in an important work and will talk to them in details upon his return.
However, he could not be reached after around 4pm and received report about Him lying dead in the morning on Wednesday.
The body of Arun was found about 1.5 km from the vehicle which he had driven at the time of leaving home.
The vehicle was found abandoned at a place between Khangabok and Tentha.
Thoubal police has registered a case in this regard and deposited the body to JNIMS for post mortem examination.
Meanwhile, a JAC has been formed in connection with the death of Arun following a public meeting held at Khangabok Part 2 Moirangpalli Leikai with speakers expressing suspicion that it could be case of murder.
The meeting also resolved to press the chief minister and DGP, and Thoubal DC and SP to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Arun and to award them befitting punishment within three days, and to launch intense agitation along with the public and CSOs if authority concerned fail act positively.
