Private hospital accused of medical negligence

A woman, who delivered a baby at the privately run Piima Health Care, near Thoubal Melaground through caesarean surgery on September 14, is undergoing treatment JNIMS Hospital, Imphal East district as her condition deteriorated, which family members and locals alleged due to negligence by doctors of the private hospital.
The woman has been identified as Purnima, w/o Keidongbam Nageswor of Wangbal Maning Leikai, Thoubal.
Addressing media persons at Wangbal on Sunday evening, Punima's father Thambalsana, recounted that his daughter was admitted to Piima Health Care on August 14 where she delivered a child after surgical procedure.
Prior to the delivery, she had no complaints and had been undergoing check-ups on a monthly basis.
However, on the day of delivery, around 3 pm, Purnima complained of difficulties in urination, diarrhoea, and other issues and subsequently conveyed to doctors of Piima Health Care, who downplayed the symptoms claiming that they are minor problems and assuring her recovery.
She was discharged from the private hospital on August 16, he said.
Thambalsana further informed that at home, Purnima's condition worsened, leading to her admission at Raj Medicity, Imphal on August 18, where she was diagnosed with kidney failure and then referred to JNIMS on August 23.While contending that deterioration of Purnima's condition is due to medical at Piima Health Care, Thambalsana demanded doctors and authorities to address the matter by September 20, to avoid facing unwanted consequences including intense agitation.
He also urged state's health department authorities to take appropriate action against Piima Health Care.
