Chakhum-gi Meiri provides flood aid

Imphal, June 14 2024:
To mitigate suffering of those affected by the recent floods in the state, Chakhum-gi Meiri provided essential supplies to families and institutions in distress.
The initiative, spearheaded by Manipurtimes and Chakhum, under the motto "Chakhum-gi Meiri Mut-han-gumsi" roughly translating to "Let's keep the kitchen flames burning" garnered support from many contributors and partners.
According to a release, Chakhum-gi Meiri delivered relief items to 25 families through Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal, Church Road, and Tangkhul Baptist Church, Nagaram, Imphal, on Friday.
Among the provisions distributed were rice, masoor dal, arhar dal, spices, potatoes, onions, besan, mustard oil, salt, and 20-litre water jars.
These supplies are intended to benefit the most vulnerable flood victims and an orphanage in the region.
Success of the mission underscores the collaborative spirit of over 100 individual contributors and partner organisations, including prominent names like Association of Meiteis in the Americas, Siroi Solutions (Malaysia), Manipuris in Japan, Global Manipur Federation (UAE Chapter), and Manipuri Meitei Association Bangalore.
Chakhum-gi Meiri had also carried out several missions such as providing commercial LPG stoves and pressure cookers for relief camps, as well as distributing seeds for agricultural rehabilitation in earlier relief efforts.
