Gaan Ngai greetings extended

Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom and Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) extended best wishes and heartfelt greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Gaan Ngai festival which falls on January 12 .
In a release, Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom said that Gaan Ngai festival - which is the greatest living religious and cultural festival signifying a distinct identity of Kabui (Rongmei) people-lasts for five to seven days depending on local convenience.
Stating that whole culture, religion and social life are interwoven in the performance of Gaan Ngai, the stressed: "Let this festival bring a peaceful co-existence as before thus leading a harmonious and prosperous Manipur.
Let us forgive and forget the past and enjoy the same joyfully with the spirit of love and brotherhood" .
Similarly, Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), in a separate release, extended greetings to all the people living in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, conveying that the festival heralds the closing of the old year and arrival of New Year.
Anticipating that the festival brings peace, prosperity and integrity in Manipur, the union further appealed to all the CSOs and various groups to refrain from imposing bandh or blockade during the Gaan Ngai festival which will run from January 12 to 17 in the interest of the Zeliangrong people.
