Imphal, October 19 2015:
State BJP president Th Chaoba hit back at Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Monday alleging that the backwardness of Manipur was because of rampant corruption and misgovernance by the incumbent Congress Government.
A political conference of BJP Manipur Pradesh BJP was held at Lilando Lampak under Thongju constituency in Imphal East.
The bye-election to the constituency is expected to be held soon.
The political conference was oganised by workers of Thongju constituency's polling stations 5/1, 5/2 and 5/3 as part of the campaign for the bye-election for which the schedule is yet to be announced.
Delivering a speech during the conference, Th Chaoba said the Congress had ruled the country for a very long time and at the same time the State Congress is in power for several terms.
The rampant corruption and misgovernance by the Congress is known by everyone and these have left Manipur in a state of backwardness, he said.
MPCC president had on Sunday attacked the BJP saying the party was extremely dangerous for Manipur during a Congress political conference held in the constituency.
Chaoba said though MPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam is acting like a good orator, he has failed to work properly as a leader.
This can be easily learnt by everyone from his own constituency Nungba where roads are in very bad condition.
Gaikhangam is representing Nungba and there are roads in this constituency which are not motorable, Chaoba claimed.
Gaikhangam does not want to work for development of his own constituency and he is talking very tough, Chaoba ridiculed.
He said there are a lot of issues facing the State such as the confusion over the Government three bills and the Naga peace accord.
The Ibobi Government should take the initiative to impress upon the Centre to find a way, Chaoba said.
Former MLA of Thongju constituency Th Biswajit also spoke during the conference where former MLA Kh Joykishan, BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson RK Shivachandra and many others were also present.
