Imphal, October 19 2015:
Questioning the registering of 'Any Kuki Tribe' in the list of Scheduled Tribes list of Manipur by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) on Monday said such policies were unacceptable.
Talking to media persons at the IPAK office, association chairman Sapamcha Jadumani asked if there is any hidden agenda of the Government of India on enlisting the Any Kuki Tribe in the tribes list of Manipur.
IPAK will not accept such alleged covert policies, Jadumani said and accused the Manipur Government of colluding with the Government of India in violating the rights of the indigenous people of the State.
Putting a question mark on the Government's plan to turn the Kukis into one of the indigenous groups of Manipur, the IPAK chairman blamed the State Government for creating the problem which he described as very serious.
He also said it is a matter of grave concern and highly questionable that the Angami and Sema tribes hailing from the State of Nagaland have been included in the Scheduled Tribes list of Manipur.
Jadumani said a probe should be initiated against all officials who are responsible for registration of the Any Kuki Tribe and other outside tribes in the Scheduled Tribes list of the State and punished them.
