Imphal, July 29 2025:
A candidate has alleged major irregularities in the recent recruitment conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), demanding that the results be scrapped and a fresh process initiated.
Hanglem Indu Devi of Khurai Puthiba Leikai, made the appeal during a press meet held at the Manipur Press Club on Tuesday.
Recounting that she applied for the posts of Guru Sutradhari and Guru Raas-dhari following a recruitment advertisement issued by JNMDA on April 1, Indu Devi said the eligibility criteria for the posts included three main conditions namely, submission of requisite documents, with either a seven-year experience certificate (Condition B) or recognition as a Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee (Condition C) .
She said that the terms made it clear that Condition B and C were alternatives, and she chose to submit documents under Condition C .
However, the job aspirant claimed that on July 9, she received a phone Call from the JNMDA director informing that her application would not be considered due to non-furnishing of experience certificate under Condition B.Indu said this contradicted earlier confirmation from the academy that all her documents were in order.
She lamented that her request to submit the experience certificate after the director's call, was rejected, even though another candidate was reportedly allowed to submit missing documents later.
As a result, she was excluded from the screening process and not called for the interview, with the academy citing incomplete documentation.
Indu questioned fairness of the process and pointed to what she called a major anomaly in the selection for the posts.
According to her, the selected candidate does not possess a Post Diploma Certificate (Ras), essential for the post, and had instead completed Sankirtana (Pung) .
It was unclear how such a candidate could have cleared the screening stage, she contended.
Calling the recruitment process flawed and unfair, Indu informed that she has submitted formal complaints to Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi and to the Governor, but has not received any response so far.
She urged authorities concerned to cancel the current selection and conduct a fresh recruitment, adding that it would be disgraceful if Sangeet Natak Akademi chose to remain silent despite made aware about the irregularities.
