State joins in celebrating Dance Day

Imphal, April 29 2025: International Dance Day 2025 was celebrated in various parts of the state on Tuesday, in sync with global observances of the day that promotes the art of dance and its cultural significance.

Inunganbi Manipuri Dance Academy (IMADA), Jiribam celebrated the day at Echel Club, Dibong with Jiribam Zila Parishad ex-Adhyaksa Kh Janaki Devi and Jiri College principal RK Sanajaobi Devi as chief guest and president respectively.

During the programme, IMADA Secretary Chandan Biren spoke on the importance of International Dance Day, the academy's contributions to promotion of Manipuri dance, and the achievements of its students, including their participation and medal winning performance at state and national level competitions.

The event also featured a cultural show presented by students of the academy.

In Kakching district, Kunjalata Dance Performing and Research Centre celebrated International Dance Day at its Wairi Kamala Pareng auditorium, showcasing a series of traditional and contemporary dance performances.

Performing Arts Centre TAPASYA, Singjamei Wangma Pebia Pandit Leikai also organised International Dance Day 2025 at the centre's rehearsal hall.

The programme inaugurated by TAPASYA director M Shobhamani, had around 60 artistes of the centre presenting various dance forms including 'Thougal Jagoi', 'Maibi Jagoi' and 'Chali Pareng' .
