While calling for an
immediate halt to the admission process in some government and private schools
within short notice of declaration of the HSLC examination results, Kangleipak
Students' Association (KSA)
has demanded conduct of entrance test for admission
to class XI .
Addressing media persons
at its Khoyathong office,
here, on Tuesday, KSA HRD
secretary Toijam Ranakumar
Meetei said that the current
admission process, which selects students based on their
CGPA grade points, needs to
be stopped.
Entrance test
should be conducted and every student should be given
the opportunity to select
their preferred schools for
admission.
He called for an
end to the practice of prioritising students with higher
grade points in the selection
process.
He also mentioned that
many students affected by
the crisis and currently in
relief camps, appeared in
the HSLC examination under
considerable pressure.
As a
result, many of them received
lower grades, leaving their
future in jeopardy.
He urged
school authorities to publicly
disclose the measures they
have taken to support the
displaced students.
