Anti-drug programmes held in Thoubal, Kakching

Imphal, November 15 2024: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Thoubal in collaboration with NSS Units of YK College, Wangjing and Polestar College, Wabagai organised 'One-day education and awareness programmes on drug de-addiction and Substance abuse' on November 14 at YK College and on November 15 at Polestar College.

The awareness programme held along with the foundation day of NYKS at YK College was presided by College principal professor S Giri, English Department head associate professor P Somerandra Singh, NSS PO Unit-I YK College assistant professor E Surchandra Singh, NSS PO Unit-II YK College Asst assistant professor N Indusekhar, Thoubal Health Care Centre counsellor Akoijam JIten Singh and DACYP NYK, Thoubal Khonsam Lokendro Singh as presidium members as well as resource persons.

The Kakching district drug awareness programme conducted along with observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (birth anniversary of Birsa Munda) at Polestar College was attended by College Zoology HoD assistant professor Labuktongbam Devala Devi, Political Science HoD Asst Prof Dr Ng Jadantakumar Singh, Polestar College assistant secretary W Birla Singh and DACYP NYK, Thoubal Konsam Lokendro Singh, as presidium members.

Seminars on 'Understanding Drug and Substance Abuse' and 'The Power of Choice' was held at the awareness programmes which culminated with a 'No Drugs' pledge by the volunteers and participants.

NYK, Thoubal will also organise district level Yuva Utsav (Youth Festival) on November 28 at Waikhom Mani Girls' College for which details and registration forms may be had from the NYK, Thoubal Office, Mini Secretariat or by contacting 8415023722, the release added.
