Thadou Students' Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has called for restoring communal harmony amidst escalating violence and unrest in Jiribam district.
In a statement, TSA leaders commended the efforts made by Jiribam Peace Committee for fostering peace, mutual respect, and a friendly environment among all communities over the past year.
TSA emphasised the importance of upholding the tenets agreed upon by all stakeholders under the stewardship of Jiribam Peace Committee.
These principles, reaffirmed on May 4 this year sought to prevent ethnic violence and promote understanding among diverse groups in the region.
"We appeal to all communities to refrain from violence, as it only exacerbates suffering and does not benefit any group," stated the TSA leaders, while expressing their commitment to non-violent dialogue and justice-seeking measures.
They underscored the urgent need for collaborative efforts to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation of tensions that have adversely impacted the socio-economic fabric of the area.
Recognising the sentiments of Thadou community and in the broader interest of public welfare, TSA-GHQ expressed readiness to advance local understandings and strengthen community agreements.
