Senapati, October 02 2024:
The proposed 48-hour total bandh by United Naga Council (UNC) has been suspended after assurances from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as well as the state's Home Department to continue with the tripartite talks regarding creation of new districts.
In a statement, UNC information & publicity secretary informed that on receipt of an official invitation for the tripartite talks on the issue of district roll back amongst the government of India, government of Manipur and UNC slated for October 11 in New Delhi and at the request of representative of the MHA and security advisor (Northeast), the proposed 48-hour total bandh in Naga areas from midnight of October 3 stands temporarily suspended.
Whilst acknowledging the unflinching support and cooperation from the constituent units, subordinate bodies, various Naga frontal organisations, and the Naga populace in general, the Naga body also requested all to remain steadfast and be prepared for any course of action until their demand is met.
