Imphal, July 29 2025: Department of Community Medicine of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in collaboration with Yurembam Apunba Club, observed World ORS Day 2025 at Yurembam Awang Leikai community hall, Imphal West, on Tuesday The event held under the theme "A Simple Solution for a Healthier Future - SIP Smart, Stay Strong: Say Yes to ORS" was attended by Club president Ngasepam Raghu Meitei as chief guest and secretary Helenchandra Laishram as functional president.

They shared the dais with Prof Shantibala Konjengbam, head of De partment of Community Medicine, RIMS (organising chairperson) and Prof H Sanayaima (organising secretary), according to a RIMS press release.

The release highlighted that the programme focused on raising awareness about the life-saving benefits of ORS and zinc in preventing dehydration from diarrhoeal diseases, particularly in children.

The event saw participation from locals, community leaders, students, Anganwadi workers and ASHAs.

Faculty members, postgraduate residents and medical students from RIMS conducted educational sessions and live demonstrations on ORS preparation, while distributing free ORS and zinc packets along with informational materials.

The event also promoted the importance of safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene practices, it added.
