MU Commerce Department plans Ruby Jubilee

Along with celebrating its 40 years of existence, the Department of Commerce, Manipur University will organise the 8th Annual NEICMA conference cum international seminar from July 1 to 3 .
Addressing media persons regard at the Commerce Department's mini conference hall on Friday, convenor of the international seminar Aheibam Rajmani said that commerce education receives lukewarm recognition in the northeastern states including Manipur unlike in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai where it commands significant importance.
To address this disparity and promote commerce education in the region, the Commerce Department in collaboration with Alumni of Commerce Association, will celebrate its Ruby Jubilee alongside the annual conference and international seminar.
He also mentioned that during the event, 40 alumni will be felicitated and they will plant 40 fruit-bearing saplings in the Commerce Department campus.
Furthermore, the department intends to collect suggestions from these alumni on ways to enhance its development and future direction, he said.
Rajmani also mentioned that as part of the Ruby Jubilee celebration, the NEICMA Conference will be held along with a 2-day International Seminar on the theme "India towards a 7 Trillion Dollar Economy by 2030".The seminar will be attended by participants from Japan, Nepal, Shillong and Guwahati as well.
Scholars from the northeastern states and other parts of India will present approximately 130 papers and cash prize awarded to the best paper presented during the event, added the convenor.
