MLA Govindas stresses unity of CSOs

Bishnupur, May 25 2025: Bishnupur MLA Govindas Konthoujam remarked that with numerous civil society organisations (CSOs) in the state yet to unite, expecting all MLAs to come together lacks sense.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed building of the Youth Welfare Organisation and the celebration of its Golden Jubilee at Bishnupur on Sunday.

The building was constructed from the MLA's Local Area Development Fund.

Noting absence of unity among the CSOs active in the state, Govindas said it would be unrealistic to expect all MLAs to unite when there is no cohesion among the CSOs.

He maintained that there are many CSOs in Manipur, but they have been unable to forge a common front, and urged them to unite first before calling for unity among legislators.

Commenting on the ongoing crisis in the state, Govindas stressed the need for unity to overcome the current challenges.

He also addressed the issue of farmers of Thinungei prevented from accessing their fields, while confiding that efforts are on to facilitate agricultural activities without hindrance.

Appealing to the bureaucrats, the MLA urged them not to act on the whims of politicians but to carry out their duties with sincerity and integrity.

"Bureaucrats should not mislead the people," he cautioned.

Presided over Youth Welfare Organisation president Naorem Ingocha Singh, the function was also attended by School of Human and Environmental Sciences former dean and MU Earth Science department head professor Soibam Ibotombi Singh, Bishnupur ward no 5 councillor Thokchom Indramani Singh and Bishnupur Ward no 6 councillor Wahengbam Radhe Devi as guests of honour.
