Imphal, November 16 2024: The All Manipur Working Journalist' Union (AMWJU) and Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) have condemned the vandalisation of The Sangai Express office at Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai today.

The All Manipur Working Journalist' Union (AMWJU) and Editors Guild Manipur (EGM), in a joint statement, said that an emergency meeting was convened in connection with the attack at the office of the media house at Manipur Press Club.

Saying that attacking the office of a media house at this crucial time should not be taken as a sensible act, the All Manipur Working Journalist' Union (AMWJU) and the Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) appealed to one and all to not repeat such acts of vandalism again.

Media personnel have been working round the clock to facilitate public discourse since the onset of the unrest in Manipur, they said and added that many reporters on duty have also been assaulted by security forces.

The All Manipur Working Journalist' Union (AMWJU) and Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) appealed to all concerned to not obstruct the movement of reporters, editorial staff, printing staff, hawkers and other media personnel as much as possible.
