MASLSA holds commendation ceremony

Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) patron-in-chief and Manipur High Court Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul said that it is the responsibility of all those in the legal service to ensure the rights of the citizens in the country, as is enshrined in the Constitution.
He made the statement as the chief guest at the commendation ceremony of legal service functionaries for this year, at the conference hall of the ADR Building in Lamphel Court complex on Friday.
Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul lauded the work done by MASLSA in provided legal and humanitarian aid to those in need, especially to the people displaced by the conflict and staying at relief camps.
Legal aid is an on-going process, he said and added that it is the responsibility of all those working in the legal aid field to work together to ensure the rights of the citizens.
The ceremony was also attended by Manipur High Court judges Justices A Bimol, A Guneshwar Sharma and Golmei Gaiphulshillu as guests of honour.
During the programme, the State Best Panel Lawyer Award was presented to advocate Jonah Inka; State Best Para Legal Volunteer Award to Legal Aid Clinic Moirang para legal volunteer Rajkumari Shakhitombi Devi; State Best Mediator Award to advocate Thangjam Rebecca; Best Legal Aid Clinic to Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok; and Best Legal Services Employee Award to MASLSA driver, L Hemanta Singh.
The awards carry mementos, certificates and cash prizes each.
