It will also enable co-development of Centres of Excellence, industry-driven curriculum, faculty development programmes and student immersion opportunities that align with national priorities.
Under the MoU, HIT Manipur and New Age Makers' Institute of Technology (NAMTECH), established by the Foundation, will work together to drive joint research, support deep-tech startups, offer fellowships and contribute to flagship national missions such as Make in India, Skill India and Digital India.
The collaboration is expected to bridge the gap between academia and industry, and equip students and faculty with real-world technological insights and applications.
The agreement was signed by NAMTECH, IIT Gandhinagar director general Arunkumar Pillai, and IIIT Manipur registrar Dr Nongmeikapam Kishorjit, under the supervision of HIT Manipur director Prof Krishnan Baskar.
The institutions have also agreed to explore opportunities for dual degree programmes, innovation bootcamps and joint policy think tanks to shape the future direction of technical education and research in India.
Officials from both sides expressed optimism that this partnership would help build a future-ready talent pool and foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among engineering students and researchers.
"The collaboration marks a significant step in connecting academic excellence with industrial expertise to deliver sustainable and scalable impact at both the national and global levels," the statement added.
