KCP member among two held with arms

Imphal, May 28 2024:
A combined team of 16th Kumaon Regiment and Bishnupur district police commando arrested one Laishram Rabi (33 years) son of Tomba of Moidangpok Mayai Leikai, with arms while
conducting frisking checking on Monday around 11.15 pm.
According to police, the combined team conducted frisking and checking at strategic checkpoints like Kwakta Maronglou, Terakhongshangbi,
Phougakchao Ikhai.
During the checking along Kwakta Maronglou IVR, a Maruti Suzuki 800 dark blue in colour coming from Santhong side towards Terakhongshangbi pushed the accelerator on being
halted.
Subsequently, the fleeing car was chased and a person detailed while another occupant escaped taking advantage of darkness even as the security team fired in the air to stop person.
On checking, one M-16 rifle (U.S.Govt.M16 Al CAL.
5.56MM4932006) with a magazine and eight rounds and one 9mm pistol with magazine and two rounds were recovered from under the front left seat of the vehicle.
The arrested person along with seized items have been handed over to Phougakchao Ikhai police station for further neces-sary action.
Meanwhile, teams of Bishnupur commando conducted search
operation at suspected
locations of Ngangkhalawai and arrested one
active member of KCP
(MC) from Ngangkhalawai Mamang Leikai near
Pukhri Achouba Mapal on
Tuesday around 4.30 pm.
The arrested person has
been identified as Chingsubam Johnny Singh alias
Chingkhei (38) son of (L)
Ch Romi Singh of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai,
and presently residing at
Ngangkhalawai Mamang Leikai.
According to police,
one 9mm pistol (country
made) along with a magazine and three rounds
was recovered from
Johnny, who along with
the seized items has been
handed over to Moirang
police station for further
action.
