Kangpokpi, June 19 2024:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has strongly denounced the torching of trucks belonging to Bharat Infra Project Limited (BIPL) at Tronglaobi village in Bishnupur district on June 15.The trucks were carrying bridge construction materials intended for the development of the Churachandpur-Tuivai road (NH-102B) section of NH-102 .
In a release, KIM information and publicity secretary Janghaolun Haokip said that despite substantial security presence, the perpetrators managed to set on fire two out of four trucks.
Janghaolun further mentioned that since July 2023, the Kuki community has refrained from imposing any blockades on national highways, as per assurances from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs aimed at resolving political demands peacefully.
KIM further emphasised that their patience and tolerance should not be misconstrued as weakness and urged the central government to intervene promptly to ensure the uninterrupted flow of essential goods to hill districts.
Furthermore, KIM also cautioned that continued discriminatory practices by the state government could compel a reassessment of their stance on economic blockades.
