Imphal, November 16 2024:
The Working Committee of the Apunba Lup (WCAL) has condemned the killing of Meetei civilians in Bishnupur and Jiribam by Chin-Kuki terrorists since the onset of fresh wave of violence.
In a statement, WCAL said that the killing of a farmer at Wathalambi on November 9, burning two elders to death in Jiribam on November 11 and abduction and murder of three women and three children by Chin-Kuki terrorists in the most horrific way was a crime against the entire humanity.
Saying that security forces have miserably failed to take actions against those who have been unleashing terror on the civilians, WCAL asked whether the Centre sees the people of Manipur like some sort of insects.
It went on to ask if the Centre is deliberately overlooking the unrest in Manipur, and added that the violence in Manipur could have ended months back had the Centre and the State Government put in sincere efforts to douse the flame.
The All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC), on the other hand, demanded revocation of AFSPA from areas under the jurisdiction of six police stations where the legislation has been reimposed.
