Agri Dept inspects pre-Kharif crops; assures assistance

A team of agriculture department led by National Food Security Mission nodal officer W Subhash on Saturday inspected various agricultural fields growing pre-Kharif crops (Angan phou) and interacted with the farmers at Wangoo Sandangk-hong Khajingkhombi Lou-kol, Sandangkhong Khabuk Loukol, Wangoo Terakhong Mamang Loukol, etc., under Kumbi assembly constituency of Bishnupur district.
During the visit, the agriculture department team assured the farmers that the department will continue to provide all assistance to farmers to ensure successful harvest of the early paddy crops.
As part of the tour, Plant Health Clinic SMS Dr Kh Ni-maichand and his staff discussed crop diseases faced by the farmers of Wangoo Terakhong Loukol, Wangoo Loukol, Wangoo Khajingkhombi Loukol, and Sandangkhong Khabuk Loukol apart from providing insecticides at free of cost.
During the inspection visit, W Subhash advised farmers to start preparation for pre-Kharif crops par-ticularly Anganphou from December onwards if want to successfully harvest the crops.
Mentioning that the state agriculture department will extend every help to the farmers and review condition of the crops from time to time, he appealed farmers to avail benefits provided by the department.
Subhash also informed that the department will distribute Mani Phou (RCM-12) for farming in 200 hectare to farmers for pre-Kharif season so that they can carry out double cropping to increase paddy yield and ensure the state self-suficient in food, while adding that today's visit was part of such measure.
