Bishnupur, May 31 2025: Vishal Mega Mart has opened a new outlet in Bishnupur Ward No 6, opposite the fuel station, bringing the popular retail chain closer to residents of the district who previously had to travel to Imphal or Churachandpur to access its services.

The new store was inaugurated on Saturday by Bishnupur MLA Govindas Konthoujam, who attended the event as chief guest, with retired additional director of Health & Family Welfare Dr W Gulapi and social worker Koijam Tejmani as the functional president and the guest of honour.

Addressing the inaugu ration function, MLA Govindas said that the store's opening would ease the burden on residents who had to travel long distances to shop at Vishal Mega Mart.

He noted that although the state has been grappling with a severe economic downturn since May 3, 2023, there remain essential daily needs.

He exuded that the new outlet would help meet these needs by offering quality products at affordable prices, while also generating employment opportunities for local youths.

"The store will bring a breather to the people in these trying times.

Besides access to affordable products, the employment generated by the outlet will be a much-needed support for our unemployed youths," Govindas remarked.

Store owner Mutum Ani informed that the Bishnupur outlet is the fifth Vishal Mega Mart store in the state and will also cater to grocery needs.

He added that the store will provide jobs to around 70 youths from the district.
