Bishnupur, August 09 2023:
Condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the present situation in the state, a sit-in protest was staged at Oinam Bazar on Wednesday demanding the PM to speak in the present Monsoon Session of Parliament on Thursday for restoring peace between Manipur and Kuki communities.
During the protest which was organised by Tanglei Hada Manipur Kanba Apunba Lup, Oinam, the agitators held placards and chanted slogans such as 'Flush Out Kuki-terrorist From Manipur', 'Stop Playing Communal Card', 'Stop Divide And Rule Policy', 'Withdraw SoO', 'Stop Militarisation In Manipur', 'Down With Modi', 'No Separate Administration in Manipur', 'NRC Compulsory', 'Long Live Manipur', 'Protect Manipur's Integrity', 'We Want Peace', etc.
Speaking to media persons, Lup's secretary O Chaoba Meitei stated that the central government should declare that there is no BJP government in the state.
He also posed whether there is a hidden agenda of the government in Assam Rifles stopping state forces and police commando personnel from entering conflict areas, while asserting that there is no government in the state as it is under military rule.
Claiming that the centre is keeping the two MPs of the state tight-lipped, O Chaoba also cautioned that the people of the state have reached their limit of suffering and if PM Modi does not speak on the prevailing crisis in the state at the Parliament on Thursday then the all the 32 BJP MLAs from the valley will be boycotted.
On the other hand, Lup's media co-ordinator Dr L Baleshwar Singh appealed to authority concerned to unconditionally release arrested village volunteers defending Meetei villages.
