Thanga school students demand lecturers, warn stir

Imphal, July 29 2025:
Students of Thanga Higher Secondary School, in Bishnupur district, submitted a memorandum addressed to the chief secretary on Tuesday urging the government to fill vacant post of lecturer at their school.
After submitting the memorandum, the students briefed the media at Manipur Press Club, here, highlighting the severe impact of teacher shortage on their routine classes.
The students declared their decision to launch intense agitations if authorities concerned fail to promptly address the problems of the school, particularly shortage of teachers.
They informed that though the new session for the school commenced three months back, normal teaching-learning process has been stalled due to lack of lecturers.

The lone lecturer for Computer Science was transferred without replacement till date, leading to suspension of classes for the subject, they rued, while pointing out that the school also currently lacks practical teachers for Physics, Eco nomics, Home Science and Thang-Ta.
The students further informed that the memorandum submitted to the chief secretary highlighted issues besieging the school, along with urging to send a Computer Science teacher by August 1, and warning of intense agitations in case the government fails to honour their demands.
