Outreach programme on adult education flagged off

Manipur University (MU) vice-chancellor professor N Lokendra on Wednesday flagged off a 45-day field outreach activities programme organised by MU, Adult Continuing Education & Extension.
Students of the department would be visiting Hiyangthang Tarahei Konjil, Hiyangthang Kabui village and KP College as part of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, professor N Lokendra expressed confidence that the programme will benefit several people.
Under the programme; the students will get first-hand experience in educating the general population and compiling information on issues, living condition and financial position of the people by interacting with them.
He also informed that the University is planning to take up Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) programmes soon.
According to Adult Continuing Education & Extension head Prof Lamalu Thaimei, the field outreach activities are part of the department's annual programmes under which they have been reaching out to villages in surrounding areas of the University.
Participating students will also aid illiterate adults to read and write during the 45-day- programme, the professor said.
Assistant professors Ch Sonia and Th Sharmila, guest lecturer Peichui Vashum and MU School of Education dean Maisnam Premlata were also present at the flag off ceremony.
